Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut Sigma’s first single sparks political conversation

The team behind Sigma, the directorial debut of Chief Minister Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay, has released the film’s first song, giving audiences an early glimpse into the tone of the upcoming action entertainer. Starring Sundeep Kishan in the lead role, the film is scheduled to arrive in theatres later this summer.

Titled Sigma Style, the track is an energetic rap number packed with upbeat rhythms and youth-oriented lyrics. While the song’s musical style attracted attention, online discussions quickly centred on a few specific lyrical references and visual callbacks featured in the promotional video.

Among the elements that caught viewers’ interest was a famous dialogue associated with Superstar Rajinikanth, which appears in the song. Fans also highlighted a particular lyric that many interpreted as a statement about avoiding the pursuit of power or political office, leading to widespread speculation on social media about whether it reflected Jason Sanjay’s personal views.

The song video also includes imagery that reminded audiences of a memorable sequence from Vijay’s 2007 blockbuster Pokkiri, further fuelling online discussions. Composed by Thaman S, who also lends his voice to the track alongside Smile Tupakeys and MC Rude, the song has been released in both Tamil and Telugu versions.

Sigma features an ensemble cast that includes Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Yog Japee, Sampath Raj, Kiran Konda and Magalakshmi Sudharsanan, among others. The makers describe the film as a fast-paced heist adventure blending action, comedy, treasure-hunt elements and suspense.
