Jana Nayagan producer breaks silence on film’s release
Jana Nayagan producer K Venkat Narayana on Sunday said the unreleased film, starring Vijay, will release as soon as it receives clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). His remarks came shortly after Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
The film, which was originally scheduled to hit theatres on January 9, has remained unreleased for over four months due to delays in certification.
Narayana attended the swearing-in ceremony and addressed the film’s status while speaking to reporters.
“We are very happy. Congratulations to Vijay Sir on becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. A new chapter begins. I am sure he will fulfil all his promises. Jana Nayagan will release as soon as we get the certificate,” he added.
Following the election results, the production house KVN Productions also shared a congratulatory message for Vijay on X, calling his victory a historic moment.
Jana Nayagan has been awaiting certification for several months. Reports suggest the film was first screened for the CBFC examining committee in December 2025, which recommended several cuts and indicated it could be granted a U/A certificate after revisions.
