Jailer 2 advance bookings close to Rs 50 crore as Rajinikanth’s sequel builds box office buzz

Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer 2 is generating strong pre-release interest, with advance-booking figures indicating substantial demand ahead of its scheduled October 15 release.

According to figures attributed to box-office tracker Sacnilk, advance reservations for the film’s first three days had reached approximately ₹41.05 crore in gross collections, including blocked seats. The total reportedly stood at ₹35.77 crore when blocked seats were excluded.

The release day accounted for the largest share of advance sales. Reported gross bookings for October 15 stood at ₹23.42 crore across 10,025 shows, while advance collections for the following three days were around ₹6 crore each.

Despite the strong opening indicators, Jailer 2 still has a considerable distance to cover if it is to surpass Coolie, which has reportedly set the benchmark among Rajinikanth films for advance-booking collections. The latest figures nevertheless point to significant audience anticipation.

Directed by Nelson, the film continues the story introduced in the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer forced to confront his violent past when a new underworld threat puts his family and legacy at risk.

Several familiar faces from the first film are returning, including Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan, Shivarajkumar, Jaffer Sadiq and Mohanlal.
