ISKCON celebrates 10th annual Sri Gaur Nitai Rath Yatra Festival
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), North-Chennai celebrated the 10th Annual Sri Sri Gaur Nitai Rath Yatra Festival.
A press release said,”It was dedicated to Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON who wanted to spread the glories of Lord Krishna in every village and town. This Ratha Yatra festival is unique for ISKCON – North Chennai as we are the pioneers for SriSri Gaur
Nita Ratha Yatra. Devotees generally would have heard about jagannath Rath Yatra. ISKCON NorthChennai has Gaura Nitai deities and they are none other than the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna and Lord Balaram. In this kali yuga they appeared as devotees and spread the sankirtana movement. In 2015 we started our ratha yatra in North Chennai,” the release added.
Many ISKCON temple leaders from Tamil Nadu attended this grand festival as the Guest of Honour.
The inauguration speech started around 3 PM and the pulling of rath started at 4.30PM. The rath started from Bharathi road and proceeded towards Perambur high Road, then Paper Mills road, 70 feet Road, Jawahar Nagar main road and finally reached Thuraiyur Nadar Kalyana Mandapam, agaram approximately at 6.30 PM.
Thousands of devotees pulled the rath and some devotees were singing and
dancing all along. At the Thuraiyur Nadar Kalyana Mandapam, aarthi was performed. A special lecture was there in the kalyana mandapam. A wonderful Drama was performed by Srila Prabhupada Theaters – “Jada Bharath”. Prasadam was served in the mandapam to all those assembled, the release added.
