iPhone 18 pro arrives with a major camera upgrade and new AI-focused hardware: Check out prices in India
Apple has introduced its latest flagship iPhone models, with India included among the first markets to receive the new devices.
The iPhone 18 Pro reportedly starts at ₹1,64,900 in India, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max begins at ₹1,79,900. The phones are offered in storage capacities ranging from 256GB to 2TB.
Customers can choose from burgundy, glacier, silver and black finishes. Pre-orders are scheduled to open on September 12, followed by retail availability from September 18.
One of the biggest changes is the new 48MP Fusion Main camera. Apple has added a variable-aperture system, giving users greater control over how much light enters the lens and how much of a scene remains in focus.
The Camera app also receives expanded Pro Controls. Users can adjust settings such as shutter speed, aperture, white balance and exposure while monitoring a live histogram.
Apple is also introducing a Reference Image feature designed to help establish whether a photograph corresponds to an authenticated original. The system uses signed sensor information to create a reference version that can be used to distinguish original imagery from subsequently edited content.
Powering the Pro models is Apple’s A20 Pro chip, built using a 2nm manufacturing process. Apple says the new processor provides higher memory bandwidth, improved graphics performance and upgraded neural-processing capabilities for demanding AI tasks.
The Dynamic Island has also been redesigned and can display multiple Live Activities simultaneously.
For sustained performance, Apple has added an updated thermal system featuring a next-generation vapour chamber, a change aimed particularly at demanding workloads such as gaming.
Battery performance has received attention as well. Apple claims the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers its biggest battery-life improvement yet, with the eSIM-only version rated for up to 45 hours of video playback. The Pro model is rated for up to 36 hours.
