India’s daily corona count nears 40,000 mark
The count of daily cases almost touched 40,000 on Thursday, with 39,670 fresh infections recorded in the past 24 hours. This was the highest single-day tally of cases since November 28 last year.
Maharashtra logged its highest-ever daily case count of 25,833, while 15 other states/Union territories reported their highest single-day tallies since January or earlier.
In the meantime, India has administered over 3.89 crore vaccine doses, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.
A total of 3,89,20,259 vaccine doses have been given, as per the provisional report till 7 pm on Thursday, the Health Ministry added.
These include 76,19,786 HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and 46,92,962 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 78,11,126FLWs (1stdose), 21,50,198FLWs (2nd dose), 1,39,18,245 beneficiaries more than 60 years old and 27,27,942 beneficiaries aged 45 and above with specific co-morbidities, the Ministry said in a press release.
