India reports 38,353 fresh coronavirus cases
India today reported 38,353 fresh Covid cases, which is 36 per cent higher than the cases (28,204) reported yesterday. The country also reported 497 deaths, taking the cumulative death count to 4,29,179.
The active cases comprise 1.21 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands 97.45 per cent, the Union Health Ministry said. A decrease of 2,157 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
As many as 17,77,962 tests were conducted on Tuesday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 48,50,56,507. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,12, 20,981 and the case fatality rate stands at 1.34 per cent, the data stated.
The daily positivity rate stands at 2.16 per cent, which has been less than 3 per cent for last 16 days.
Kerala today reported 21,119 cases, the most number of cases reported by a state on a single day. It also reported 152 deaths. Yesterday, the state had reported 13,049 cases and 105 deaths.
Tamilnadu with 1,893 Covid cases, Andhra Pradesh (1,461), Karnataka (1,338) are other southern states with high number of cases. Telangana with 494 cases is the only southern state with cases below 1,000.
