India reports 26,115 fresh coronavirus cases
India recorded 26,115 fresh Covid cases, 13.6% lower than yesterday’s figures. The new infections took the country’s total caseload to over 22.9 crore. 252 deaths in the last 24 hours pushed the death count to 4,45,385.
Maharashtra, which has the highest number of coronavirus cases in India, recorded 2,583 new infections.
15,692 people tested positive for the virus on Monday in Kerala, which has the highest single-day rise of cases in the country. The fresh cases pushed the tally of infections to over 45.24 lakh and 92 deaths took the death count to 23,683.
Neighbouring Karnataka, which has imposed strict restrictions on people entering from Kerala, logged 677 fresh infections and 24 fatalities.
