India Post Launches ‘Know Your DIGIPIN’ and ‘Know Your PIN Code’ for Smarter Addressing

In a major stride towards digital transformation and accurate location identification, Indian Postal Services has officially launched two new citizen-centric platforms — ‘Know Your DIGIPIN’ and ‘Know Your PIN Code’. These initiatives are designed to enhance accessibility to precise address information and improve service delivery across the country.

The ‘Know Your DIGIPIN’ platform provides users with a 10-character alphanumeric digital code—called DIGIPIN (Digital Postal Index Number)—based on the exact geospatial coordinates of their location. This new system, developed in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad and NRSC, ISRO, allows individuals and businesses to obtain a precise digital address for their premises. It is particularly beneficial for remote, rural, or unstructured areas where conventional addresses often fall short.

Complementing this is the ‘Know Your PIN Code’ platform, which enables users to identify their traditional 6-digit postal PIN code using address or location data. This tool simplifies the process of verifying accurate postal codes, reducing errors in mail delivery.

Both platforms are accessible via the official website: https://dac.indiapost.gov.in/mydigipin/home, and are part of India Post’s broader effort to modernize postal services through technology and data integration.

With these launches, India Post aims to not only streamline logistics and emergency response but also support the government’s vision of a digitally empowered India, bridging the gap between urban and rural connectivity through smart, reliable addressing solutions.
