India partially resumes visas for Canadians
India has announced to partly resume visa services in Canada from Thursday. The visa services were closed last month amid diplomatic spat between the two nations.
Making the announcement, the Indian High Commission in Ottawa said on Wednesday that as if now services will resume for entry visa, business visa, medical visa, and conference visa.
It added that emergency situations will be continued to be addressed by the HC and the Consulates General as it is being done now.
“Further decisions, as appropriate, would be intimated based on continuing evaluation of the situation,” read a statement from the High Commission.
The HC said it was constrained to suspend visa services due to safety and security considerations. It added that after a considered review of the safety situation that takes into account the Canadian measures in this regard, it has been decided to resume visa services in certain categories from October 26.
