Ilaiyaraaja sends legal notice to Coolie makers
The makers of Thalaivar 171, recently released the title teaser of the film and unveiled it as Coolie.
Headlined by Rajinikanth, the film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and is one of the much-anticipated films in Tamil cinema.
Now in the latest turn of events, composer Ilaiyaraaja has sent legal notice to the makers of Coolie for the unauthorised use of his old song for the teaser.
In the legal notice sent by Ilaiyaraaja, it is mentioned that the director of the film (Lokesh Kanagaraj) has been constantly engaging in unauthorized usage of the composer’s musical works in repeated manner.
The notice also stated that his earlier films like Vikram, Fight Club, and upcoming Coolie have used his musical works without payment or consent.
The notice was referring to the Disco Disco portion from Va Va Pakkam Va song taken from the 1983 Rajinikanth-starrer Thanga Magan.
The portion was used in the recently released Coolie teaser.
Further, the notice stated that the makers have to either obtain legal consent and permission to use the song work or remove it from the existing promotional material.
