Himachal Pradesh seals all inter-state borders after Khalistani flags controversy

In a swift action, the Himachal Pradesh government ordered all inter-state borders to be sealed and blockades to be put in place immediately in the state.

The Director General of Police Himachal Pradesh, Sanjay Kundu, in a message to the district police chiefs asked them to ensure checking of vehicles entering the state.

“In view of the incidents of khalistani elements in neighbouring states and also incident of tying a khalistani banner in Una district on April 11 and recent incident of hoisting banners and graffiti of Khalistan on the outer boundary of Vidhan Sabha as well as the threat posed by Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) regarding announcement of the 6th June 2022 as voting date for Khalistan referendum in Himachal Pradesh, entire state will remain on high alert from today.”

Kundu asked the police chiefs to step up the security in their jurisdiction. He also listed six preventive and precautionary measures which were to be implemented immediately.
