Gouri Kishan’s Tharagai teaser introduces a woman on a midnight journey

Gouri Kishan is set to headline Tharagai, an upcoming Tamil film directed by Krish, whose previous directorial work includes the 2019 film Zhagaram.

On Gandhi Jayanti, the makers released the first promotional video for the film, introducing Gouri’s character Isai. The promo opens with a reference to Mahatma Gandhi’s well-known observation about women being able to walk freely at night as a measure of true freedom.

The video then follows Isai as she boards a bus to Chennai late at night. Dressed in bridal attire, she begins a journey while a road marker indicates that Chennai is 96 kilometres away.

The film’s central theme is hinted at through the accompanying line: “A woman. A journey. Her freedom.” Tharagai is based on a story by Thuhiran, with Balakumar Vijayaraman serving as co-writer and Dhinamdhorum Nagaraj handling the dialogues.

Suresh is producing the film under the Speed Reels Studio banner. Details regarding the full cast, storyline and genre are yet to be revealed.

The technical team includes composer Siddu Kumar, who previously worked on Aaromaley, along with lyricists Karthik Netha, Vignesh Ramakrishna and Mu.Vi. Sundar Sukumaran is the cinematographer, Alan P John is handling editing, and Arunshankar Duraai is the art director. Action choreography is by Abhishek Srinivas.
