Gouri Kishan calls for responsible journalism after interview comments spark misinterpretation

Actress Gouri Kishan has spoken out against the use of isolated interview excerpts in headlines, saying that removing remarks from their original context can give readers a misleading impression of what was intended.
Her clarification followed a news report that quoted her discussing how much she missed simple everyday activities, including spending time with friends. Kishan felt the presentation made her comments sound like a complaint about her growing popularity and the attention she receives.
In a social media statement, she explained that her remarks were about ordinary pleasures that can become difficult to enjoy amid a busy professional life. She stressed that she was not expressing dissatisfaction with the affection and recognition she has received from audiences.
Kishan also urged media outlets to report interviews with greater care, pointing out that a single sentence used as a headline may not convey the speaker’s full meaning. She reiterated her gratitude for the support she continues to receive and called for more responsible reporting.
The issue has particular relevance to Kishan, who previously studied journalism. On the professional front, the actor was seen in the second season of the Prime Video series Suzhal: The Vortex. Her film credits include Love Insurance Kompany, directed by Vignesh Shivan and featuring Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty.
Her upcoming projects include the JioHotstar series Love Always and the film Thagarai. She is also set to reunite with her ’96 co-star Aadhitya Baaskar in Love and War, directed by debutant Rajkumar Rangasamy.
