The Urgency of Allyship
For many, coming out to their families can be devastating, putting them at risk of severe emotional, financial,  and physical harm, including rejection and homelessness. These experiences often lead to depression and  self-harm, underscoring the urgent need for stories of unconditional parental love. By offering a narrative  that demonstrates a parent’s unwavering support, Amma’s Pride provides a vital lifeline to queer people,  especially youth, imploring families and communities globally to Stand Up For Love.
Film Overview
Amma’s Pride chronicles mother Valli’s unwavering support for her trans daughter, Srija, as she navigates  falling in love, getting married, and fighting for state recognition of her marriage in a traditional small town in  Tamil Nadu.
