ED searches property of Senthilbalaji’s brother in Karur

Following the arrest of Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji in a money laundering case on June 14, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted several raids and searches at different locations connected to him.

On Wednesday morning, officials from the investigating agency arrived at an under-construction building located on the Karur-Salem highway, which belongs to Ashok, the brother of Balaji, who is also an accused in the same cash of jobs scam that he is being probed for.

The bungalow, which is currently being searched, is registered under Ashok’s wife’s name. More than 20 armed Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officers have arrived at the spot along with former officials.

The deployment of heavy security at the site has raised eyebrows on the search being conducted at Ashok’s property, who is currently absconding despite being served back-to-back summons to appear for interrogation.

Meanwhile, on Monday night following the Supreme Court order, Balaji was taken to the ED office in Chennai from Puzhal prison, where he was placed under judicial remand. His interrogation will continue till August 12.
