ED conducts raids at 40 locations in connection with Delhi liquor policy scam

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting searches at 40 locations across multiple cities in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. Searches are being carried out in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Chennai.

Earlier on September 6, the ED had carried out searches at over 35 locations in Delhi and other cities in connection with the liquor policy case. Searches were carried out at the premises of those involved in the liquor trade, including manufacturers allegedly involved in the drafting of the new liquor police enforced by the AAP government in Delhi.

The ED is probing alleged irregularities in the formulation and execution of the Delhi Excise Policy brought out in November 2021 by the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) government. The policy has now been rolled back.

The ED initiated its probe based on the FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the liquor policy case. The CBI FIR has named Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish and some bureaucrats in the liquor policy case.

Manish Sisodia and the AAP have refuted all allegations of irregularities and corruption in the implementation of the now defunct liquor policy.
