Director Shankar deeply upset, warns filmmakers of legal action

Filmmaker Shankar took to X and tweeted a lengthy post, alleging that certain filmmakers are ripping off and copying key scenes from Su. Venkatesan’s iconic Tamil novel ‘Nava Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari’, without prior permission.

Shankar said that he holds the copyright to the famous novel.

“As the copyright holder of Su. Venkatesan’s iconic Tamil novel “Nava Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari”, I’m disturbed to see key scenes being ripped off & used without permission in many movies,” tweeted the sensational director. He went on to say that he is “really upset” to see an important scene from the novel in a recent movie trailer.

Shankar further warned filmmakers of legal action. “Kindly refrain from using the scenes from the novel in movies, web series and any medium, Respect creators’ rights! Refrain from Unauthorized adaptations of scenes, Refrain from infringement or face legal action,” he concluded.

Soon after Shankar’s blasting tweet, social media was abuzz with speculations about whether Shankar was talking about the trailer of a Telugu biggie that was released or the recently released theatrical trailer for a Tamil high-budget entertainer.
