Dhanush and Vetri Maaran reveal first look of Thamizh Murugan amid NTR film row
Actor Dhanush has unveiled the first-look poster of ‘Thamizh Murugan’, his fifth collaboration with filmmaker Vetri Maaran, offering audiences a glimpse of a film rooted in Tamil cultural identity.
The promotional artwork features Dhanush seated on an elephant, holding a Vel while facing a vast army, imagery closely associated with Lord Murugan, revered in Tamil Nadu as ‘Thamizh Kadavul’.
The project reunites Dhanush and Vetri Maaran after their successful films Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai and Asuran. Their previously announced sequel, Vada Chennai II, has yet to enter production.
The screenplay is based on a story by Arivumathi, while Sai Abhyankkar will compose the soundtrack. The announcement has also generated discussion because another upcoming film starring Junior NTR and directed by Trivikram Srinivas is reportedly based on Lord Murugan. That project recently attracted criticism following remarks made by its producer regarding the deity’s origins, prompting debate on social media.
Many online users have described Thamizh Murugan as a celebration of Tamil cultural heritage and its traditional association with Lord Murugan.
