Department of Public Relations, Stella Maris College, organises International Conference on Reimagining Communication in a Digital Age
The Department of Public Relations of Stella Maris College, Chennai, opened its doors to experts and scholars on digital communication for its International Conference on Reimagining Communications in a Digital Age on September 9 th and 10 th , 2025.
The conference was inaugurated by Mr N. Ram, Director of the Hindu Publishing Group, who also delivered the inaugural address, highlighting the shifts in Journalistic Communication caused by technological evolution. Dr Sabir Haque, Associate Professor of Mass Communication at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, delivered the keynote address on the strides made in Media Education and offered key insights on the changes in the viewpoint of creators and brands. Dr Rachel Jacob, Associate Professor of Communication Arts and Creative Media from the Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan, delivered a plenary address on ‘Infobesity’ and its effects on the user’s experience and attention.
The conference also included a panel discussion on “Storytelling, Authorship and Audience in Today’s Digital Age” with Indian filmmakers, primarily working with Tamil films, Mr Arumugakumar, Mr Prasath Murugesan and Mr Arivazhagan Venkatachalam. On both days, students and scholars got the opportunity to present their papers on the conference topic from a large range of phenomena, experiences and insights that were changed by the digital age we find ourselves in.
The conference was brought to a close with a valedictory address by Dr Sundari Krishnamurthy, Founder of the Department of Public Relations, which encompassed the conference’s ethos and goals. The two-day gathering was a great symposium of ideas and insight, highlighting the entrance into an epoch of technological and communicational innovation with awareness and shared insights.
