Delhi Ordinance Bill to be introduced in Lok Sabha today
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to introduce the Central government’s Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 today in Lok Sabha.
The Union Cabinet earlier this week cleared the Delhi Services Ordinance bill to be tabled in the Parliament during the current Monsoon session.
As per the accessed details, the bill would empower the Central government to decide the service conditions including appointment, transfers, postings, leave., etc of all the officers and bureaucrats working under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD).
The bill would also give control to the government over the disciplinary proceedings and service matters of the IAS officers in the national capital by the mechanism of the Civil Service Authorities. It further sought to create a balance between the imperatives of democracy with the Delhi government and governance.
The bill would also appoint the National Capital Services Authority, which will be headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and would have Chief secretary of Delhi and Principle Secretary Home as the members.
