Deepavali box-office clash between Jailer 2 and Arasan?

Industry sources indicate that Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, may be heading for a Deepavali release later this year.

Although earlier speculation pointed to a September or October launch, sources claim portions of the film have recently been reworked and reshot, resulting in adjustments to the production schedule. Post-production is expected to continue for several months after filming concludes.

There are also reports that actor Hrithik Roshan will make a special appearance in the film, with his scenes yet to be completed.

If the festival release materialises, Jailer 2 could face competition from Arasan, the upcoming collaboration between Silambarasan and director Vetrimaaran, which is also reportedly targeting a Deepavali debut. Industry observers believe such a clash could generate significant interest at the box office.

Neither production team has officially confirmed a release date, and formal announcements are expected closer to the film’s completion.
