“DAPPANKUTHU” –Movie Review

A duet is often about the lead pair dancing to catchy tunes in scenic locations. This film takes a refreshing twist, featuring duets shot against the backdrop of picturesque rivers, with each location and river beautifully described—a unique concept in Kollywood that deserves applause.

The screenplay carries a noble theme, shedding light on Tamil Nadu’s proud heritage of folk arts. The story revolves around Pandi (Madichayam Pandian), a passionate folk artist performing with his dedicated troupe. His loyal aide Sakku (Kadhal Sugumar) and Raasaathi (Durga) are integral to his team. The plot thickens with the entry of Dhanam (Deepthi Raj), who admires Pandi’s artistry and joins the troupe despite opposition from Dharmalingam (Andrews), who harbors sinister intentions.

Dhanam, believed to be an heiress to a fortune abandoned by her father, surprises everyone by revealing Raasaathi as the true heir. The film concludes on a heartwarming note with Raasaathi establishing a home for orphans, a meaningful gesture that adds depth to the story.

This socially significant venture is both informative and entertaining, highlighting the fading folk arts that need renewed patronage. The director deserves praise for crafting a thoughtful yet engaging narrative. The lead actors deliver compelling performances, bringing authenticity to their roles.

The team’s effort stands out, combining a strong social message with captivating storytelling. Their commendable work ensures this film leaves a lasting impact.
