Controversial remarks: Madras HC asks police to register case against TN minister Ponmudy

The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu police to register a case against Forest Minister K. Ponmudy over his recent controversial comments that led to him losing his party post.

Justice N Anand Venkatesh gave a strong warning to the police, saying that if they fail to file an FIR (First Information Report), the court will start contempt proceedings on its own. The judge said, “Now the court has taken up the matter. Even if there is no complaint, you must file a case and begin the investigation.”

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for April 23.

As a result of the controversy, Ponmudy was removed from his party responsibilities.
