Coimbatore FOB’s various initiatives as part of Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme

The Field Outreach Bureau, Coimbatore organised an Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Nutrition month, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and COVID awareness on 17.9.2021.

At the Collectorate campus, Tirupur District Collector Dr. S. Vineeth flagged off the mobile LED awareness campaign vehicle and distributed saplings to the Anganwadi workers. They also took pledge for a malnutrition free India. The workers witnessed the special film show on Poshan Abhiyan.

Along with NACO, TANSACS and District AIDS Prevention Control unit, FOB Coimbatore organised a special session at Jaivabai Girls Higher Secondary School towards AIDS and Tuberculosis, Nutrition for adolescent girls and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Pamphlets were distributed to the students on Nutrition month 2021 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

In association with Rotary Bharati and Sree Saran Medical Centre, special awareness session was organised for women about anaemia, menopause stress, breast cancer and cervical cancer. A screening camp was also organised as part of the initiative. Dr. Manimehalai Palanisamy, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, elaborated on menopause stress, the preventive measures to be taken by women to avoid anaemia and good nutrition to prevent various diseases. Awareness about breast and cervical cancer and importance of nutrition were also highlighted. Smt. Kareena B. Thengamam, Deputy Director, FOB, Coimbatore and Shri S. R. Chandrasekaran, Field Publicity Assistant elaborated the importance of the Poshan Abhiyan campaign.

Smt. K. Maragatham, Project Officer, ICDS, Tirupur inaugurated an Integrated Communication and Outreach programme. She asked the Anganwadi workers to take forward the importance of Poshan Abhiyan and explained the COVID protocol in detail. Shri. C. Sivakumar, District Supervisor, DAPCU, Tirupur highlighted the importance of AIDS test for pregnant women and explained the various precautionary measures to be taken by them. District Coordinator of Poshan Abhiyan Shri Hariharan and CDPO, ICDS, Tirupur Smt. P. Jayalatha spoke about the importance of nutritious and traditional food. The winners of the Health Baby Show were felicitated during the event.

In order to promote and market nutritious food items, live sessions on cooking nutritious food was also organised. Horse gram dosa, Kavuniarisi and Muzhu uzhundhu dosa, Roti, Adai, Raaghi cake, Red rice noodle were included.

A nutrition exhibition and cooking without fire that was organised, witnessed items like salad and juices.
