Chief Minister Vijay takes first ride on Chennai Metro, inspects ongoing works
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay travelled on Chennai Metro’s Blue Line for the first time on Wednesday, drawing enthusiastic crowds at multiple stations and along the route. Supporters gathered at places including Government Estate, Nandanam, Kathipara Junction, and several elevated points between Poonamallee and Porur to catch a glimpse of the Chief Minister. Many recorded videos, clicked photographs and shared them on social media.
The Chief Minister began his journey from Omandurar Metro station to Nandanam during the afternoon. He was accompanied by Finance, Planning and Development Minister N. Marie Wilson and senior officials from Chennai Metro Rail Limited.
Before boarding, Vijay purchased a ticket and spent time interacting with fellow passengers. Commuters welcomed him warmly, with many taking selfies during the journey. Following the ride, he reviewed the progress of Metro Rail construction works in Guindy and held discussions with officials regarding ongoing infrastructure projects.
Later in the day, he travelled on another Metro service between Porur and Poonamallee, opting for a window seat while inspecting construction activity around the Kathipara corridor. A large number of passengers shared the train with the Chief Minister during the visit.
