Chennai wakes up to rainy morning due to Asani effect
Severe cyclonic storm Asani which packed gale-force winds up to 120 kmph, brought rains in Chennai over the night.
People in the city woke up to drizzles with a few areas, including Besant Nagar, facing water logging. Beaches also wore a deserted look.
The storm is likely to bring heavy rains in 15 districts in Tamil Nadu.
Asani is expected to curve away from the coast and run parallel to the east coast in a north-northeast-ward direction and gradually weaken, the MET office said.
