Chennai Beach- Katpadi ‘Vande Metro’ trial run to be conducted tomorrow
Very soon, Vande Metro, the metro variant of the popular Vande Bharat trains that will ply on short-distance routes with space for standees, will be put into commercial operations.
The first trial run of the Vande Metro, which will eventually replace MEMUs (Mainline Multiple Electric Units), will be conducted between Chennai Beach and Katpadi Junction on August 3 with the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS) onboard.
The prototype of the Vande Metro, which was rolled out a couple of months back from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) here, is a fully air-conditioned (AC) train designed to run at a maximum speed of 130 km per hour with facilities like automatic doors, better toilers, and infotainment.
