Central govt seeks explanation from Meta over temporary removal of PM Modi’s Facebook post
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has called Meta’s global head of public policy to explain the temporary removal of a Facebook post by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The post, published on July 23, featured a video message to students and young people in which the Prime Minister promised tougher action against examination paper leaks.
The incident occurred during student protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), prompting the government to seek clarification from Meta.
Meta said the content was mistakenly removed because of an error in its automated moderation systems and was restored after the issue was identified.
Government sources, however, reportedly found the explanation unsatisfactory and indicated that discussions with the company would continue, saying the matter had not been fully resolved.
