C Ve Shanmugam files additional affidavit in AIADMK headquarters violence case
Former Law Minister C Ve Shanmugam on Tuesday filed an additional affidavit before the Madras High Court seeking direction to the Director General of Police to take proper action in the AIADMK headquarters violence case that occurred on July 11.
Shanmugam already filed a petition seeking direction to order an independent agency’s probe in the case. He further filed an additional affidavit stating that the state CB-CID has not taken any satisfactory action in the violence case.
The former minister noted that even though the photographs of people, who were involved in the violence are available to the police, they are not taking any action against the accused.
In his affidavit, Shanmugam stated that due to the apathy in the probe, the state’s major opposition party head office is in an inoperative condition. If the State police continue to handle the case in a way benefitting some other parties, it is necessary for the police DGP to pass orders to probe the case in a proper way, the petitioner added.
He further noted that if the State police failed to exercise its responsibility, the petitioner has no other option than to seek an alternate independent agency’s probe in the case.
