Brother of Minister Senthil Balaji summoned for I-T probe

The Income Tax (I-T) Department continued searches for the fifth consecutive day   at properties related to the family members of Minister V Senthil Balaji at various places in Chennai, Karur, Coimbatore, and Erode in Tamil Nadu.

According to sources, the I-T officials also conducted searches at the office of the minister’s brother V Ashok. They sealed four properties related to some aides of the minister as well.

Properties of one Mani — who owns an establishment called called Kongu Restaurant and was said to be a close friend of the minister — were also sealed by the officials.
The I-T sleuths also entered the office of a government contractor, Shankar Anand, and conducted searches. As Shankar is apparently absconding, the officials locked and sealed his office.
