Bommai movie review
Story:
SJ Suryah has a troubled past and lives alone in his Chennai home.
He works as a painter in a mannequin factory. One day, he unboxes a mannequin, which has a defect in the chin area.
It reminds him of his high-school sweetheart Priya Bhavani Shankar.
The mannequin comes alive for Suryah and together they imagine the life they want to live.
Suryah’s hallucinations make him see Priya Bhavani Shankar every day and converse with him.
How does his hallucination turn him into a murderer and how it affects his life form the crux of the story.
Analysis:
Director Radhamohan who has a reputation for making close to reality movies has steered away from it this time.
Although the film has a weak plot, it has some great performances to offer.
SJ Suryah comes up with yet another sterling performance. He tries to carry the film on his shoulders almost single-handedly.
Priya Bhavani Shankar delivers a commendable performance. Playing a doll is difficult but to Priya’s credit, she does a fine job on most occasions in the film.
Chandini delivers a good performance, too. She has a very limited space to perform in this film but does justice to the role assigned to her.
Rest of the cast have all delivered what was expected from them.
Richard M Nathan’s visuals are a treat to watch and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background score works in portions.
Rating: 3.2/5
