Bad Girl teaser OUT: Varsha Bharath’s film competing at IFFR
Bad Girl is an upcoming Tamil film written and directed by Varsha Bharath. The film is a coming-of-age family drama and will have its world premiere at the 54th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, held from 30th January to 9th February 2025.
The film will be competing at the festival for the prestigious Tiger Competition.
The trailer introduces us to a teenage girl who is studying in school, but her ambition is to get a boyfriend.
We see her going through the course of a normal girl and facing as many problems as much as any other woman would go through.
She begins to talk to a new boy, and they get to understand each other. She is obviously shamed, as we see she enjoying her life as per her norms.
The film ends with a mother and daughter talking about the latter being taught how to use a dating app.
The cast of Bad Girl includes Anjali Sivaraman, Shanthi Priya, Saranya Ravichandran, Hridhu Haroon, TeeJay Arunasalam, Sashank Bommireddipalli. The film is written and directed by Varsha Bharath, with Preetha Jayaraman (ISC), Jagadeesh Ravi, and Prince Anderson handling the cinematography.
Radha Sridhar is the editor of the film and V Shanmugaraja is the production designer. Jayalakshmi Sundaresan has worked as the intimacy coordinator. Director Vetri Maaran has produced the film.
Bad Girl is in the post-production stage and slated for an early 2025 theatrical release.
