~Tune into Disney+ Hotstar to watch the iconic Jedi Master in his adventures, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar on May 27~
We are just days away from Obi-Wan Kenobi, the next Star Wars series to stream on Disney+ Hotstar. This new limited Star Wars series comes years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as an evil Sith Lord – Darth Vader. Reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, Ewan McGregor is set to headline the series along with Hayden Christensen as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The new series, directed by Deborah Chow explores how Obi-Wan went from warrior hero in the prequels to the Zen Jedi Master seen in the original trilogy with an atmospheric, gritty, and emotional character-based story. Fans will now be able to watch the series in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, with two episodes premiering on May 27, followed by new episodes every week on Disney+ Hotstar.
Talking about how killing the Jedi master Obi-Wan is not just his job but also personal to Darth Vader, Hayden said, “The Republic has fallen to the Empire and Obi-Wan is living in hiding. Vader’s hunting down the Jedi because they represent an opposition. It’s mandated by the Emperor but it’s also more than that—it’s personal for him. It goes back to this sort of internal struggle that Vader has with his personal identity—in trying to kill the Jedi, he is trying to kill that part of himself.”
Joining McGregor and Hayden Christensen in the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.
