Armed police deputed for protection outside Suriya’s hosue

Suriya’s Jai Bhim courted another controversy recently. On November 15, Vanniyar Sangam sent a legal notice to Suriya, Jyotika, director TJ Gnanavel and Amazon Prime Video for tarnishing the reputation of the Vanniyar community.

Following this, armed police has been placed at Suriya’s residence after the actor faced several threats over the Jai Bhim movie controversy. As of now, five police personnel are deployed with arms outside his house in T Nagar.

The notice mentioned that certain scenes in Jai Bhim tarnished the reputation of Vanniyar Community. Apart from demanding public apology, the Sangam also demanded Rs 5 crore as damages. Following the notice, members of Vanniyar community issued open threats to Suriya. Nagapattinam district secretary of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Sithamalli Pazhani Saamy also announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh to those who attacked the actor.

Jai Bhim, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is produced by Suriya and Jyotika’s 2D Productions. The film talks about the custodial torture inflicted to the members of Irular community.
