AR Rahman’s son Ameen clarifies Chennai car accident details, says everyone is safe
ARR Ameen, son of music composer AR Rahman, was involved in a car accident near Chennai’s Kathipara flyover in Guindy on Monday. Initial reports suggested that the vehicle carrying Ameen and a friend had collided with another car while travelling from Koyambedu.
A day later, Ameen and his sister Khatija Rahman provided further details about the incident and clarified who was driving.
Khatija urged media organisations to verify information before publishing reports about the accident. Ameen subsequently shared her clarification and explained that he had been travelling in the passenger seat while his friend was behind the wheel.
According to Ameen, the accident occurred after a vehicle ahead of them moved forward despite a red traffic signal, leading to the collision.
He said everyone involved was safe and expressed gratitude to God for protecting them. Ameen also thanked his father AR Rahman, his cousin and musician GV Prakash, and his grandmother for their prayers and support.
He said the prayers and values passed down by his family continued to guide him and that he hoped to carry those lessons forward.
Professionally, Ameen’s recent work includes the Tamil version of ‘Chikiri Chikiri’ from Ram Charan’s film Peddi. He has also featured on the independent song ‘Bheegi Bheegi’ with Jasleen Royal, alongside Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur.
