Anti-terror agency raids multiple locations in Tamil Nadu, arrests one person
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided multiple locations in Tamil Nadu this morning, reportedly to identify their links with foreign terrorist organisations, and arrested one person.
According to sources, the NIA conducted searches at 25 locations, including Chennai and Mayiladuthurai. The NIA arrested a man named Alfaseeth, a native of Mayiladuthurai, from Purasawalkam area of Chennai where he was working as an ambulance driver.
According to sources, he is suspected to have links with Islamic State (IS) and reportedly was attempting to recruit youngsters for the terror organisation.
The central agency, on January 25, arrested two suspects, linked with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), for the murder of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader V Ramalingam in 2019.
