Announcing the launch of a new institute for Cinematography in Chennai

24MM Film Academy is now open for admission

Aspiring cinematographers can check out the newly launched institute of Cinematography, 24MM
Film Academy, founded by ace Cinematographer G. Sridhar of Parierum Perumal fame. The phrase
‘by the Cinematographer, for the Cinematographer’ springs to mind! While Sridhar will be personally involved in running the institute, he will continue to be actively engaged in his profession. His  impressive line-up of soon-to- be-released films like Kazhuvethi Moorkan, Iyalvadhu Karavel, and  Paayum Oli Neeyanakku, plus two more scheduled to go on the floors in July, bear testimony to his  abiding commitment to his craft

The academy offers a one-year course in Cinematography under Sridhar’s personal tutelage.

When asked to comment on his new venture, Sridhar had this to say: “While courses in various fields
of cinema exist, the better ones are often prohibitively priced. My dream for the last thirteen years
has been to provide an extensive professional course at an affordable price, easily accessible to the
new generation truly passionate about filmmaking. To me, that’s what matters!”

Asked how his course differs from those offered by established competitors, Sridhar’s response was:
“My intention was to bridge the gap between what institutes offer and what the industry demands.
With rapid advances in technology, Cinematography has evolved a great deal. My first-hand
exposure to this evolution has helped me design courses that familiarize aspirants with the latest
tools and techniques and turn them into industry-ready professionals.”

He continued,“Students will be gudied step-by-step through the entire script-to-screen process. They
will receive extensive training in the use of various cameras, lenses, angles, lighting… But beyond
these technical aspects, we will also focus on honing their soft skills – in effective communication,
coordination and crew management – all of which that play key roles in the high-stakes world of
film-making.”
