Annamalai announces new political movement, BJP says no loss because of his exit
Soon after leaving the Bharatiya Janata Party, former IPS officer K. Annamalai unveiled plans for a new political movement inspired by the principles of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
According to Annamalai, the movement will initially function as a public platform before eventually transforming into a political party. He said prospective leaders and candidates would undergo training at a dedicated centre in Coimbatore focused on ethics and public leadership before entering electoral politics.
Explaining his departure from the BJP, Annamalai stated that he had raised concerns within the party over an extended period before deciding to resign. While maintaining respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other national leaders, he said differences on certain issues ultimately led him to chart an independent course.
Annamalai indicated that the future organisation would seek to attract people from different generations and backgrounds while avoiding personality-driven politics. He also expressed confidence that the movement would eventually contest elections in Tamil Nadu.
Responding to the development, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran downplayed the impact of Annamalai’s exit, saying the party remained strong and unaffected by the decision.
