Andrea Jeremiah breaks silence on taking up new challenge
Singer and actor Andrea Jeremiah is stepping into a new role as a judge on Tamil Idol, the Tamil-language debut of the popular Indian Idol reality singing franchise.
In an interview with IANS, Andrea said she was approaching the experience with an open mind, emphasising that music remains her first passion despite her successful careers in acting and film production.
She described music as an essential part of everyday life, explaining how songs help people navigate different emotions and difficult moments. For her, the opportunity to identify promising singers and contribute to their development is one of the most rewarding aspects of joining a reality show.
Andrea said she was particularly excited about the programme because it would allow her to focus on music while sharing the experience with fellow musicians Benny Dayal and Karthik, whom she considers friends.
She also spoke about the different roles she has taken on in the entertainment industry, saying that while acting and producing offer their own rewards, music remains the place where she feels most at home.
Tamil Idol will feature Andrea alongside singers Benny Dayal and Karthik as its three judges. Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman will take on the role of super mentor, adding another major musical name to the programme.
The show is scheduled to air on Sony Vizha and stream on SonyLIV during weekends. The season will comprise 40 episodes, each running for approximately 90 minutes.
With established musicians on the judging panel and Rahman serving as super mentor, the programme aims to provide a platform for emerging Tamil singing talent and bring a new audience to the Indian Idol format.
