“Andharan” Movie Review

“A suspense-filled mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end.”

‘Andharan’ is a mystery thriller that blends suspense, romance, and psychological drama into an engaging cinematic experience. Directed by first-time filmmaker Santhosh Raavanan, the film revolves around Karthika, a woman haunted by a chilling mystery—every man she is about to marry dies under mysterious circumstances. As an investigating officer digs deeper into the case, long-buried secrets begin to surface, leading to an intriguing series of twists.

The film’s biggest strength lies in its atmosphere. From the opening sequence, the screenplay maintains an air of suspense that keeps viewers invested. Rather than relying on jump scares, the narrative gradually unfolds through clever clues and unexpected revelations. While a few predictable moments appear in the second half, the climax delivers satisfying answers that tie the story together effectively.

Prajin Padmanabhan delivers a restrained and convincing performance as the investigating officer, balancing determination with emotional depth. Ivana Varun shines as Karthika, portraying fear, vulnerability, and resilience with ease. Their performances lend credibility to the emotional core of the film, while the supporting cast, including Anupama Kumar and Senthil Kumari, contribute meaningfully to the narrative.

Technically, Andharan scores well. Kishore Ramachandran’s cinematography beautifully captures the eerie mood, using dimly lit frames and atmospheric visuals to heighten the tension. Hari S. R.’s background score complements the mystery without overwhelming the scenes, and the crisp editing ensures the film rarely loses momentum.

Although a few scenes could have been trimmed for a tighter runtime, Andharan succeeds in delivering a gripping mystery that keeps audiences guessing until the very end. The film balances emotional storytelling with suspense, making it an enjoyable watch for fans of investigative thrillers.

Andharan is an engaging mystery thriller with strong performances, effective storytelling, and an immersive atmosphere. Despite minor pacing issues, it offers enough suspense and emotional depth to make it a worthwhile theatrical experience.

A well-crafted thriller that keeps the mystery alive until the final reveal.
