Amit Shah takes charge as Union Home Minister
Prominent BJP figure Amit Shah assumed leadership as the Union home minister for a second term in a row. Shah, who has held the position since 2019, has rejoined the Modi 3.0 administration in the same role.
Shah paid respects to police officers who had given their lives while serving the country at the National Police Memorial in the Chanakyapuri neighborhood of the city before to taking over as minister.
S Jaishankar on Tuesday took charge of the foreign ministry along with Ashwini Vaishnaw, who took charge of the Railway ministry.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday allocated portfolios for the Modi 3.0 government with several key ministers retaining their portfolios. Amit Shah continues to serve as the Minister of home affairs, while Rajnath Singh remains the Minister of defence. Nitin Gadkari retains his position as the Minister of Road Transport and Highways.
Nirmala Sitharaman continues to hold the crucial role of Minister of finance and corporate affairs. Dr S Jaishankar remains the Minister of external affairs, navigating India’s foreign policy in an ever-changing global landscape. Piyush Goyal retains his responsibilities as the Minister of commerce and industry, consumer affairs, food and public distribution, and textiles.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, who has made significant strides in his previous tenure, continues to serve as the Minister of railways, communications, and electronics and information technology. The retention of these key ministers in their respective portfolios ensures continuity and stability in the government’s policies and initiatives.
Narendra Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for his third consecutive term on Sunday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in an impressive ceremony attended by leaders from India’s neighbourhood and the Indian Ocean region.
President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to PM Modi, who was seen wearing a full-sleeved white kurta with churidar and a blue half jacket, followed by other members of his team of ministers.
