Amid NCP war, Rahul Gandhi meets Sharad Pawar
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday met Sharad Pawar at the NCP president’s residence in an apparent show of support for the veteran leader amid a rebellion in his party.
Soon after Pawar addressed the media following his party’s working committee meeting, Gandhi reached 6, Janpath, the official residence of the NCP veteran.
Speaking after a national executive meeting in New Delhi, Sharad Pawar said he is the party’s president. Pawar senior’s statement came after Ajit Pawar’s faction declared that the veteran leader has been removed from the post, and said he should now retire.
“There’s no importance if someone (Ajit Pawar) says something. I am still effective, whether I am 82 or 92. Now, whatever we need to say, we will say it before the Election Commission of India,” he said.
