All the States should implement the National Education Policy: Jagdeep Dhankar

Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, made a strong appeal to States which are yet to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to reconsider their stance and adopt the policy, describing it as a ‘game changer’ in India’s academic journey.

Addressing students and faculty at Pondicherry University on June 17, he emphasised that NEP 2020 — introduced after three decades — empowers youth by encouraging holistic development and use their talent, multidisciplinarity, and give due importance to all languages.

He warned against divisive narratives around languages, adding, “Language unites. Divisiveness and language learning are poles apart.”

Highlighting India’s linguistic diversity as a symbol of inclusivity, “How can we be divided on languages? No country in the world is as rich when it comes to languages as our Bharat,” he said.

Listing eleven classical Indian languages and 22 languages, he asserted that linguistic pride should be a unifying, not divisive, force.

“Sanatan Dharma teaches us to come together for a common, sublime purpose. Let’s reflect, rise, and move beyond this storm for the future of our boys and girls.”
