Aishwarya Lekshmi opens up on life after quitting social media

Aishwarya Lekshmi says stepping away from social media has brought her greater peace and allowed her to enjoy everyday experiences without constantly thinking about how they might appear online.

The actor left social media in September 2025 after feeling that her online presence was beginning to interfere with both her professional life and her ability to appreciate simple moments.

Speaking on The Puja Talwar Show while promoting her Netflix series #Love, Aishwarya said she feels considerably more comfortable with her life since making the decision.

She explained that the issues that initially pushed her away from social media have not necessarily disappeared. The difference, she said, is that she no longer has to repeatedly expose herself to them or allow them to influence her state of mind.

Aishwarya had earlier spoken about how social media had changed the way she experienced personal moments. Even while travelling, she found herself thinking about how an experience would appear on Instagram. She now feels more free to enjoy such occasions without the pressure to document them.

Although she no longer posts, Aishwarya said she still has an Instagram account and occasionally consumes content.

The actor also acknowledged that social media can be an important platform for creators, particularly those looking for an opportunity to showcase their work without waiting for traditional industry gatekeepers. She cited influencer Hashir and the success of Vaazha 2 while discussing the opportunities such platforms can provide.

For her personally, however, Aishwarya said she had reached a stage where she simply wanted to step away.

She is currently appearing in #Love, directed by Balaji Mohan and co-starring Arjun Das, which is streaming on Netflix. She has also featured in Gatta Kusthi 2 and Aasha this year and is set to appear next in the Telugu film SYG – Sambarala Yeti Gattu.
