Agniveer game changer, forces will become tech-savvy: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the first batch of Agniveers on being the pioneers of the path-breaking Agnipath Scheme. He interacted with a batch of over 25,000 Agniveers, who are among the initial teams of recruits under the short-term induction programme for the armed forces.
During his interaction with the young recruits virtually, PM Modi highlighted, “This transformative policy will be a game changer in strengthening our armed forces and making them future ready.”
Discussing the challenges of new fronts of contactless warfare, the prime minister said, “Technologically-advanced soldiers will play a key role in our armed forces,” adding that “Efforts are underway to modernise our forces as well as make them Aatmanirbhar”.
The first batch of 25,800 soldiers comprises 19,000 recruits for the Army, 2,800 recruits, including 271 women, for the Navy and 3,000 for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Discussing that the Agnipath Scheme will also empower women, PM Modi said that he is looking forward to seeing women Agniveers in all three forces.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also interacted with the batch of Agniveers on Monday.
