After 14 yrs, TN records double digit Economic growth : Stalin
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday celebrated Tamil Nadu’s impressive 11.9% economic growth in real terms for the 2024-25 fiscal, the state’s first double-digit growth in over a decade, describing it as a strong step towards the goal of becoming a US $1 trillion economy by 2030.
Quoting data released by the Union Ministry of Statistics, Stalin announced on social media that Tamil Nadu was the only state in India to achieve double-digit growth last year. “When we set the target of becoming a one trillion dollar economy by 2030, many raised their eyebrows. They said it was too ambitious. But with growth like this, what once seemed distant is now well within reach,” he said in his post on X.
The Chief Minister recalled that Tamil Nadu had last recorded double-digit growth in 2010-11 during the tenure of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. “Today, the #DravidianModel Government, walking the path shown by Thalaivar #Kalaignar, has repeated that feat. Both times, it was the DMK Government at the helm,” Stalin added.
He emphasised that clarity in planning and determined action were the key to achieving such milestones. “We proudly declared earlier that Tamil Nadu led the nation with a growth rate of 9.69%. Now, as per the revised estimates of the Union Government, we have recorded 11.19% growth — the highest in the country,” he said, while reposting a media report on the achievement.
Stalin asserted that the state’s development model, focusing on inclusive growth, social welfare, and industrial expansion, had created a conducive environment for sustainable economic progress. He expressed confidence that the $1 trillion economy target was now realistic and achievable well before the 2030 deadline.
