“Aaryan” Movie Review
Aaryan – A crime thriller that lands perfectly
Aaryan is an engaging and thought-provoking crime thriller that begins with a shocking moment and builds into a gripping tale of mystery, emotion, and purpose. The film opens with Azhagar (Selvaraghavan), a frustrated writer who interrupts a live TV broadcast to announce his “five-day serial killing story.” In a chilling twist, he ends his life on air, becoming the first victim of his own narrative. Rather than an ending, his suicide marks the beginning of a meticulously planned chain of events — a crime saga that unfolds even after his death.
What makes Aaryan stand out is its inventive storytelling. The villain’s death becomes the story’s starting point, forcing DCP Nambi (Vishnu Vishal), a dedicated and emotionally burdened cop, to solve crimes orchestrated by a man who no longer exists. As Nambi follows Azhagar’s cryptic clues and pre-recorded messages, the film transforms into a smart “howdunnit” mystery filled with suspense and clever twists.
Vishnu Vishal delivers a solid performance, balancing intensity with vulnerability as a man caught between his duty and personal turmoil. Selvaraghavan shines in his brief but impactful role, setting a haunting tone that lingers throughout. Shraddha Srinath adds depth as a TV host drawn into the web of deception.
While the motive behind Azhagar’s actions — targeting forgotten heroes like nurses, soldiers, and activists — may seem unconventional, it brings a unique moral dimension to the narrative. His twisted reasoning challenges viewers to think about society’s indifference to unsung heroes.
The film’s pacing strengthens as it moves toward its second half, where the mystery deepens and the stakes rise. The final act, which traps Nambi within the killer’s grand design, is thrilling and satisfying. Technically, Aaryan is sleek, with crisp cinematography and an atmospheric score that heightens the tension.
In the end, Aaryan succeeds as a compelling, original thriller that keeps you invested till the last frame. Despite minor flaws, it’s a smartly executed story about guilt, fame, and the fine line between justice and obsession — a crime thriller that truly sticks the landing.
