The Raj Bhavan, Tamil Nadu, on Friday clarified that contrary to reports on sections of media, the count of bills withheld by the Governor were only 10 and the decision was conveyed to the Government.
81 per cent of the Bills were assented by the Governor RN Ravi (95 per cent of these Bills have been assented to withing three months).
Further, 13 per cent of the Bills have been reserved for the consideration of the President (60 per cent of these Bills have been reserved on the recommendation of the State government), says a statement from the Raj Bhavan.
The statement was issued following certain ‘unfounded’ and ‘factually’ incorrect allegations have been made in the public domain that the Governor has been delaying assent to the Bills passed by the Assembly and that his actions are against the interests of the people of Tamil Nadu, the Raj Bhavan said.
A total of 27 Bills have been reserved for President’s consideration and 16 (out of the 27) reserved on request of Statement government).
