80s Buildup movie review

Santhanam is from a big Zamin family and a hardcore Kamal Fan. Sunder Rajan is his grandfather.

One day, a gang of thieves plan to steal a traditional sword from their house. Sunder Rajan accidentally eats the diamonds that the gang has and dies later.

The gang waits to somehow retrieve the diamonds from Sunder Rajan’s body.

Meanwhile, Santhanam falls in love with Radhika Preethi, a distant relative, who comes to attend Sunder Rajan’s funeral.

Santhanam makes a bet with is sister Sangeetha saying that he will make Radhika fall in love with him before the funeral.

Was Santhanam successful in his love, what happened to the gang forms the rest of the story.

Analysis:

Director Kalyan has based the story on the events that take place in a funeral house.

Though the concept is really good on paper, the way in which it has been executed could have been better.

Santhanam has not tried anything different and has stuck to his strength. His one-liners have worked out here and there.

Radhika Preethi has done her part well. Rest of the cast including Sunder Rajan, Mansoor Ali Khan, Mottai Rajendran, Mano Bala and Mayilsamy have all have delivered what can be expected from a comedy caper.

The combo of Aadukalam Naren and Anand Raj has worked out really well.

Music by Ghibran is good and the BGM fits the theme of the movie.

Cinematography by Jacob Rathinaraj has presented the movie in a colourful tone.

Rest of the technical aspects are okay.

Rating: 3.2/5
